Our Summer School was
founded in 2001. The success of the first years has prompted us to develop
this venture into a full-scale international summer school in Hungarian Studies
and Language. We usually have 40-50 students from 15-20 different countries
while running language groups on five different levels.
ACADEMIC PROGRAM
The four-week program includes language learning on various levels, cultural
exposure in combination with academic classes, entertainment and recreational
programs as well as regular contact with Hungarian language partners. There
is also a possibility to choose a two-week module. We start beginner courses
in both halves of the program! The workload equals 12 or 6 ECTS credits for
the 4-week and the 2-week courses respectively. The main components of the
program are as follows:
CULTURAL PROGRAMS
Field trips and cultural events
We are organizing optional excursions to near-by points-of-interest to help you become more familiar with the area in which you are studying. It is not mandatory to participate in all or any of the excursions, but we highly recommend them!
PROGRAM FACILITIES
The University
Library offers 250 computers with high-speed internet access, as well
as a special collection of HS books and periodicals.
ENTERTAINMENT AND
RECREATION FACILITIES IN SZEGED
In August Szeged is a rather warm, definitely summery place where water sports
and beach facilities are vital for recreation. The city offers three large
swimming pool complexes as well as nicely kept free beaches on the riverbank.
The university fitness club, tennis courts, and jogging tracks can also be
used by the participants of the program. In the cooler evenings many outdoor
restaurants and cafés attract visitors but if the weather is too hot,
one can also enjoy one of the 3 airconditioned multiplex cinemas.
LOCAL CULTURAL EVENTS
In summer Szeged is most famous for its festival season and Open
Air Theatre performances. The theatre program includes operas and musicals
as well as concerts and folk dance evenings.
Additional concerts are organized in the romantic courtyards of the City Hall,
the Franciscan Monastery and in other venues. Various art exhibitions in museums
and galleries complete the attractions for the students' free time.
ACCOMMODATION
Kálmán Panzió is our university preferred Bed and Breakfast and social venue hosting our opening and closing ceremonies, along with various other events, such as folkdancing, international evening, etc.
